1990s
Amanda (1990-1995) ~ I enjoyed it very much. I always had a really fun time
and learned a great deal and had excellent teachers. The Laurel
School helped me make great friends and learn to be who I am today.
The education helped me become an independent learner and express
myself. 1/25/09
Becky (1990-1994)
~ It was absolutely the best place for my brother and me. We were offered so many creative opportunities every day, in so many different disciplines, and it was a safe environment for everyone. It was such a long time ago, but I still remember how colorful the classrooms were, walking and exploring outside, and especially Ms. Wadsworth class -- learning French and theatre, math and spelling, I loved it all! I've been studying at Harvard to hone my own beliefs about pedagogy, curriculum, and assessment (in light of the direction public schools have been taking post-NCLB) and The Laurel School has been a really valuable reference point for my thinking. In another important way, it was the place where I began writing and putting plays for fun as part of my classes, and so I especially value those as formative experiences now that I am a high school English and theatre teacher. 11/4/09
Michael (1992-1998)
~ The Laurel School was a very special place for me. I can proudly say that The Laurel School was one of the main tools in moulding who I have become today. I will never forget the friends I met and the teachers who helped lead my life in the right direction. 4/21/09
Samantha (1996-1997)
~ It was a great experience for my first years of school.
I made many new friends, some of who I am still very close with.
I think that The Laurel School has made me a very artistic and
open minded person. 1/25/09
Kaitlin (1997-2002) ~ My time at The Laurel School was fantastic; I remember going to school there from kindergarten through fourth grade, where I learned and loved my teachers. The school taught me academic tools which I have used throughout my school career, and will continue to use into college, as well as the morals and values which I will use throughout my life. I cannot credit enough the effect that Laurel had on my educational development to my current academic success. The small and welcoming learning environment which the school provided allowed me to explore all of my interests. Details such as the school science fair are what encouraged me from a young age to pursue my interests in the field, and the encouragement and support I got from teachers such Ms. Karin, Mrs. Wadsworth and Mr. Brian have had a profound effect on me throughout my life. "Mrs. Wadsworth gave me and my peers our first lessons not only in grammer and multiplication, but in character, and I can honestly say that she not only made us all better students, but better people". Part of Kaitlin's National Honor Society Teacher Appreciation Speech. 1/21/2010
Ryan (1998-2003) ~ The
Laurel School taught me a lot about friendship and helped me develop
good learning habits. I liked that everyone knew each other and
it was very creative. The Laurel School was a great beginning
because it helped me build confidence and self-esteem. If you
go to The Laurel School you'll learn a lot and have a lot of fun.

Brian (1998-1999) ~ I
remember being afraid to go to school but Miss Lisa and Miss Tiffany
were so nice I couldn't wait to go to school. I liked going to
school then and I do now. My experiences at The Laurel School
were a lot of fun. I remember making a lot of projects. I still
have some of the same friends that I had in Miss Tiffany's class.
Art was something we were always doing at The Laurel School. 1/9/09
Amanda (1999-2007)
~ I loved every minute at The Laurel School! I loved the comfort of the small setting and the amazing teachers. My teachers at The Laurel School are to be thanked for some fo the best qualities I hold today and also for the exciting potential of my future. Every grade was an amazing experience and each year I really had the perfect teacher and I really love and appreciated then...I still do! The environment at Laurel is so nurturing and safe I always felt that I could be my self, my best self, everyday. I feel so prepared academically everyday that I am in school from the start I received at The Laurel School. I had a smooth transition to both a public school and now a charter school because of the confidence and knowledge gained at The Laurel School. I have a lot of confidence speaking in front of my teachers and classmates from all the years talking in front of peers, teachers and families at morning meetings. Public speaking is easy and comfortable for me and for that I am very thankful. The Laurel School planted the seed for me to want to succeed and to be a kind and considerate person and to do something amazing..to bloom and grow into an amazing productive member of society! 3/18/09
Amani (1999-2002) ~ My
time at The Laurel School was unquestionably one of the most positive
experiences of my academic career. Not only did I grow as an academic,
but as a person. I have no doubt that my experience at the Laurel
School greatly influenced who I am today. I know I decided I wanted
to study IR in 6th grade. 1/13/09
