Developing educational awareness programs and providing information to our families is an important step to keeping our children safe. When necessary, we will provide workshops for parents, awareness curricula and handouts, and/or comprehensive education and awareness activities for age-appropriate students, as well as educators. The Laurel School encourages parents and staff to read the provided prevention documents to help in avoiding illnesses and to encourage a safe environment.

Peanut and Nut Allergies

The Laurel School is a peanut and nut aware school. We request our families to avoid packing peanut butter, peanuts and nut products to school. If you have any questions or are uncertain about specific items, please contact the school office, and be sure read our important documents.

Influenza (Flu) and H1N1

The flu or seasonal flu is contageous and there are ways to help in preventing illness. Whether you choose to have a yearly flu vaccination or not, there are other good health habits that we encourage you to read about.

Lice Prevention

Head lice are a common occurance amount young children and household members of infested children. The No Nit Policy encourages each family to do its part at home with routine screening, early detection, accurate identification and thorough removal of lice and nits.

Bullying and Cyber-Bullying Prevention

Bullying negatively affects the atmosphere of a school and distrupts the learning enviroment. The Laurel School does not tolerate bullying and the entire school community strives to create an inviting place where everyone feels they belong and are safe. Working together, administrators, teachers, school staff, parents, and students can help stop bullying.
