HOME ABOUT US ELEMENTARY ADMISSION NEWS GREEN SCHOOL FACULTY SUPPORT LAUREL
Preschool
The preschool programs offered are Preschool I, Preschool and Jr. Kindergarten providing flexible placement options which allow for optimal experiences for individual children. The emphasis is on learning to play and playing to learn. Children in the preschool programs are creatively involved in meeting new friends and discovering the world around them as they learn basic social and self-help skills. The curriculum is developmentally appropriate, project and activity based. As the children play, dance, sing, draw, and have stories read to them their imaginations soar and friendships blossom.
Jr. Kindergarten
Children who are eligible for Kindergarten the following year enroll in our Jr. Kindergarten program. In a more academic setting, students focus on pre-reading and writing skills, basic math and science concepts, and discover the meaning of letter sounds relationships as they acquire basic phonetic skills. They continue to develop with a longer day, increasing their ability to concentrate while continuing to explore the dynamics of social relationships.
Enrichment and Extended Day
Children have the opportunity to extend their regular school day in the morning and afternoon. We offer Jr. Kindergarten structured age-appropriate enrichment clubs like Creative Movement and Gardening. For more information about our Jr. Kindergarten clubs see our posting to the right. We also offer preschool extended care until 5:00p.m. and before school care is also available beginning at 7:30a.m.
The Laurel School is accredited by the Association of Independent Schools in New England (AISNE) and certified by the State Board of Education. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) license the preschool program.
